back from bkk for quite long but never got round to updating. :P anyway, the photo album is still incomplete cos' i'm waiting for my friends to send me everything but there're a few here so take a look: share.shutterfly.com/action/welcome?sid=0AcM2jZy1cOWLsw

i'll do a short summarised account.

Day 1

went chatuchak in the morning. the cabbies in bkk are born F1 drivers. the way they speed is terrifying. they drive as if the vehicle had wings or some Turbo fire engine. the whole journey to chatuchak from Twin Towers (our hotel) was like a car race and we were contestants in Amazing Race: Thailand. Chatuchak has the most adorable puppies and they are extremely pitiful. some are so tiny and couldn't even support themselves on those frail little limbs yet. damn those pple. after lunch we shopped through Platimun Fashion Mall. half of it was done with excitement and energy, the next half in a zombified state. shopped till we literally dropped onto vacated seats at dunkin donuts. but we didnt buy any donuts so we stood up to leave. tried to hail a cab but all either charged a flat rate of 100 baht or claimed not to know where our hotel was (damn them). finally got one and went back. at night we went siam paragon. the foodhall at the basement is similar to Taka's basement. bought 7 big bottles of water. tried to hail a cab again but because they all knew we were carrying so much groceries and hence had no other choice, all charged the flat rate until steph devised a plan whereby i hail the cab while the 3 of them (with the groceries) stood far away like we dont know each other. and i got a meter cab at last. signalled to them to come and the rest of the night was pretty typical. crashed into bed. was so tired. no energy left to let my imagination run wild about the hotel room and other unearthly things. first time i could sleep on the first night at a hotel.

Day 2

woke up at 6.30am (Thai time). the hotel breakfast was all right. minimal variety but there was cereal (rice krispies!) and fresh milk so that's all that is needed to make me happy. went for complimentary half-day city tour. sat the boat through the fake chao praya then visited Temple of Dawn (i thought it was Don) before going to some gem factory. the tour guide asked if we were interested in the Ahgua show or Thai Girl show. all long when she said "Thai Girl" i thought it was "tiger" and i wondered why tigers of all animals, shouldn't it be the elephant that's the symbolic animal of Thailand? until my friends told me it's Thai Girl. dumb me. after the tour we were driven to MBK (MaBoonKrong). another gigantic sprawling shopping centre with many levels and countless shops. by now we know that it's impossible to finish shopping through the entire building of any mega mall in Bangkok. my harvest at MBK was good. manage to get stuff for mom, siblings, uncle etc. bought loads of food too. ate at The Fifth (the equivalent of Marche, only better, in my opinion). Pad thai was good, though a tad bit too oily. resumed shopping. later we split up and settled dinner separately. at night we went to the night bazaar and i found my mom's hand cream which i never expected to come across throughout this trip. there was this pharmacy right smack between other shops selling clothes and accessories. it looked oddly out of place, like it should've been somewhere else. but i was inexplicably drawn to it and to my great great surprise they had what i was looking for. if it wasn't meant to be i dont know what else it is. back at the hotel sze and steph showed us their amazing manicures and sze's fingers are total blingazelles. she has jewel studs at the base of each nail and my eyes hurt from looking at them (ok kidding about the last part). steph's ones are all flowery, which is what she's so crazy about. fell asleep pretty quickly again.

Day 3

breakfast as usual. checked out at 10.30am. headed to Central World's NaRaYa where we spent a long, long time in there picking out souvenirs. everything in there was so pretty! the rest of central world is pretty high end. so we got out and went back to.... Platinum. to finish the other levels which we dragged ourselves through the first time in our zombiefied states. we started from the basement this time. when we were done we walked to Pantip (like Funan IT mall here) where there's an A & W outlet! ice cream waffles, root beer and curly fries were our lunch. took photos with the A & W mascot. horsed around a bit. then flagged a cab back to twin where we did some major packing of our purchases. shermaine was a great help, especially when it came to hiding the pirated dvds. i was so afraid my luggage would burst. while others were afraid theirs would be overweight (max. 15kg per person). the drive to the airport was endless. we got there and did all the usaual stuff and then went separate ways again before meeting up to check ourselves in. the flight back was terrible. frigtening turbulence. never ever sit Tiger. first, leg room space is almost non-existent, second, one can't lean the seat backwards unless he/she wants to incur the wrath of the passenger behind and third, being so tiny, the plane is a lot more susceptible to violent shaking during turbulences. we reached singapore safe and sound and in whole. shopping is an alternative form of exercise. totally NOT bullshit.

so now i'm rotting at home still looking for a decent non-admin job and meanwhile i'll go watch antm on youtube. bye!
